One of the first things young families ask us about is schools. South Mississauga is known for having some of the strongest public schools in the entire city of Mississauga, and the neighbourhood you choose often comes down to which school catchment you land in. Here is a breakdown by area.

Port Credit
Port Credit Secondary School serves the area for grades 9 to 12 and has a strong academic reputation, home to both the Regional Strings and Regional SciTech programs. On the elementary side, Kenollie Public School and Forest Avenue Public School serve local families, both JK through grade 6 or 8 depending on catchment.
Mineola
Mineola is consistently cited as home to some of the highest performing elementary schools in the city, with Mineola Public School and Kenollie Public School both drawing strong reviews from local parents. Families here also feed into Port Credit Secondary School, one of the most sought after high schools in Mississauga.
Lorne Park
Lorne Park is known for its schools as much as its tree lined streets. Lorne Park Public School and Whiteoaks Public School cover the elementary years, and Lorne Park Secondary School is one of the top rated public high schools in Peel Region, known for academics as well as a standout football and extracurricular program.
Clarkson
Clarkson Public School serves the neighbourhood at the elementary level, with students moving on to Clarkson Secondary School or nearby options depending on catchment. It is a strong, established community school base for the area.
Lakeview
Lakeview families are served by schools including Janet I. McDougald Public School, with Port Credit Secondary School and Cawthra Park Secondary School (home to the Regional Arts Programme) both accessible depending on exact address.
Private schools
South Mississauga also has a few well established private options for families who want it. Mentor College, with campuses in the Mineola/Port Credit area, offers JK through grade 12. The Toronto French School has a west campus located right in Port Credit, offering French immersion from JK onward. St Dominic Catholic School serves the Mineola area at the elementary level for families looking for faith based education outside the public board.
A quick note for buyers: school catchments can shift and are tied to your exact address, not just the neighbourhood name, so always confirm directly with the Peel District School Board or the private school itself before making a decision based on a specific school.
